HOPI CELEBRATION COMES TO MALIBU
On May 6th,
A Rare Event

Thirty Hopi dancers, artists, singers and runners will be coming to
share their hopes, visions, songs and prayers with us. Their message is
about bringing balance into our relationship with Mother Earth. We
welcome the Hopi and honor all they bring to this heart warming cultural
exchange. This event includes rare and exquisite Hopi Ceremonies never before seen in California .

This is our chance to be with people who maintain a sacred way and who look at us like peers, ready to roll up our sleeves to see how we can
put our hearts and minds together in seeking new solutions.

There will be exchanges about traditions and sustainability while the
main performances are going on. The Hopi will call forth the historical
knowledge they already have as gardeners and combine this valuable
wisdom with the best of what sustainable architects, gardeners, and
permaculture experts have to offer. Also performing are Suzanne Teng and Mystic Journey.

The Hopi would like a part of their reservation to become a
permaculture model for sustainable development. We are asking and exploring how we can help support a greenhouse or sustainable garden on Hopiland and help them prepare for their Sacred Site Run.

Come dance and join us in this collective celebration and honoring of
the Hopi on May, 6, from 12 pm - 5 pm on the Wright Land in Malibu. The

Hopi Celebration, Sunday, May 6th, 2007, 12 noon to 5 PM
30 Hopi Dancers, Artists, Singers & Runners
Will Share their Hopes, Visions, Songs & Prayers
to Bring Balance to Our Relationship with Mother Earth.

This event includes rare and exquisite Hopi Ceremonies never before
seen in California. The Hopi seek to call forth their traditional wisdom
and combine this with the best of what sustainable architects, gardeners
and permaculture designers have to offer. This event will spearhead
solar energy projects, sustainable water systems, gardens and greenhouses for their community. You can join these Hopi efforts for a balanced relationship with Mother Earth simply by attending and enjoying the afternoon, or, if you have a relevant background and you wish to, you may also explore direct collaborations.

This celebration also supports Hopi runners who will join the six-week,
Inter-Tribal Sacred Sites Run in 2008, which will begin in the Second
Mesa of the Hopi Nation in Arizona, go through New Mexico, and culminate in the pyramids of Teotihuacan, Mexico. Along the way they will do ceremonies at sacred sites and be received by the Huicholes, the
Xochimilcas, the Chichimecas and the Otomi. At every site the runners will also exchange spiritual, cultural and practical information hoping to support the protection of sacred sites and plant the intent of living in
balance with nature in a sustainable manner. The message of sustainability and its practices will be delivered through the efforts of all the Sacred Sites Runners.
